Gemma Cullingford ‘Tongue Tied’ (Vinyl LP)

The excellent follow-up to her debut album ‘Let Me Speak’, Gemma Cullingford’s new album is a effervescent mix, bringing together post-punk electronica and the dancefloor. With a reticent, diffident Englishness, Cullingford manipulates bass at the forefront of the synths and drum machine sound world, setting up irresistible grooves, while her lyrics tackle life’s large preoccupations of lust and desire and sexual politics.
