We’ve uncovered a stash of CDs of this essential album, a prime slice of vintage 1960s TV themes from the enigmatic Radiophonic Workshop genius John Baker and probably the world’s most intense ruler-twanging cut-up music ever committed to tape. ‘Vendetta’ was a BBC TV mafia-based cop thriller that ran from 1966 to 1968. It was another commission for the overworked and undervalued stars of the Radiophonic Workshop, and John Baker produced an extraordinary collection of cues and themes, pulling off all kinds of sonic tricks. It’s a crazed mix of musique concrète techniques, early electronica and very hip 60s jazz stylings.
