We're marking the return of The Art Of Noise with this month's Electronic Sound cover story. Or The Art Of This as they're now calling themselves.
More than 25 years on from The Art Of Noise's last studio album, three of the five founding members – JJ Jeczalik, Gary Langan and Paul Morley – are rebooting the group as The Art Of This. They're in fantastic form for our interview, telling tales from their early days and talking about going back to their avant-garde roots. True to form for the oddball electronic maestros, you should expect the unexpected.
We also have a very exciting exclusive release with this issue of the magazine – a limited edition seven-inch featuring the first two recordings by The Art Of This. It's on silver vinyl too. The A-side is 'Manifesto (Introduction To A Group)', an alluring piece of sound art that builds into a radiant wash, with Paul Morley's spoken words front and centre of the track. The other side of the record is the somehow simultaneously sinister and soothing 'In A Moment (Introduction To A Song)', again with Morley taking a lead role. The "Song" in question, by the way, is The Art Of Noise's 'Moments In Love'.
"It might be this is all we do – this particular interview and this particular seven-inch," notes Paul Morley towards the end of our cover feature. In which case, this is likely to become one of our most sought-after releases. Don't miss out on it.
As with all of our music releases, this seven-inch is strictly limited and is only available to readers of Electronic Sound, so make sure you grab your copy right away.
