It's 50 years since the launch of the Minimoog and the new issue of Electronic Sound has a special gold foil cover to mark the occasion. Our lead feature is the inside story of this remarkable machine, while elsewhere in the magazine you'll also find Clint Mansell, Xeno & Oaklander, Ian Boddy, Efterklang, UNE, Richard Fearless and Humanoid, plus a report on the six winners of this year's Oram Awards.

We’ve got a very special seven-inch to accompany this month's mag too – an exclusive black vinyl reissue of 'The Sound Of Moog', a demonstration disc released by Moog in 1971 to introduce the Minimoog to the world. Originally pressed as a flexi, the record was given away in music shops and at musical instrument fairs in America, as well as being sent to potential customers in the post. On side one, narrator Jim Johnston talks about the company's next generation of “performance Moogs", by which he means the Minimoog. On side two, meanwhile, seasoned jazz keyboardist and Moog insider Chris Swansen can be heard putting the new synthesiser through its paces.

As with all of our seven-inch releases, this record is strictly limited and is available only to readers of Electronic Sound, so make sure you grab your copy while you can.
