American synthpunk visionaries Suicide are this month's Electronic Sound cover stars and we have a great new interview with Martin Rev, who looks back at the beginnings of the group he formed with the late Alan Vega in 1970. Elsewhere in the magazine, we also talk to Tim Hecker, Thomas Leer, Tony Visconti, Pepe Deluxé, Anna Domino and more.
There's never been another electronic duo quite like Vega and Rev, so we are very excited to be releasing an exclusive Suicide seven-inch to accompany the issue. It's pressed on lush red vinyl too. The A-side is the nagging and dubby 'Ghost Rider', the opening salvo of the NYC band's debut album, which has been heralded as one of the 100 best tracks of the 1970s by both NME and Rolling Stone. Turn the record over for an edit of an early mix of the thrilling and chilling 'Frankie Teardrop', with different lyrics to the album version. Frankie is now a Vietnam War veteran rather than a factory worker – and the result is more intense than ever.
As with all of our music releases, this seven-inch is strictly limited and is only available to readers of Electronic Sound, so make sure you get your copy right away.
