ES788 Reader Offer
A band? An art project? A shadowy cabal of political provocateurs? We are lifting the lid on Laibach for this month's cover feature – and what an incredible story it is. We've got a really strong supporting cast elsewhere in the issue too, including Hannah Peel, Nik Colk Void, Tears For Fears, Loraine James, Kavinsky and Betty Boo.
Formed in a mining town in Slovenia at the start of the 1980s, everything that Laibach does comes as a surprise. Absolutely everything. The two tracks on our latest limited edition seven-inch prove the point. 'Love Is Still Alive (Surfing Through The Universe)' is an edit of a 40-minute suite that the band recorded for the soundtrack to 'Iron Sky – The Coming Race' in 2012 and it sounds like Suicide covering The Doors in outer space. 'Ordnung Und Disziplin (Müller Versus Brecht)' meanwhile finds Laibach digging deep into sound art territory, slicing up and fragmenting vocals, strings and ephemeral rhythms.
As with all of our music releases, this seven-inch is strictly limited and is only available to readers of Electronic Sound, so make sure you get your copy right away.
