We've borrowed the dramatic image on the cover of this month's Electronic Sound from the new Simple Minds album and we have a lengthy interview with Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill inside the magazine. Our supporting cast meanwhile includes Lucrecia Dalt, Carl Cox, Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan, The Umlauts, DJ Parrot, Halina Rice and Thomas Fehlmann.
We have a fabulous magenta vinyl Simple Minds seven-inch to accompany the magazine too. The A-side is 'I Travel', the thrilling electronic track which opened the band's 1980 breakthrough album 'Empires And Dance' and remains a firm favourite of their live sets to this day. Flip the disc over for 'Planet Zero', which features huge waves of synths and plenty of razor-sharp guitar lines. It's one of the highlights of the new Simple Minds album, 'Direction Of The Heart'. “There’s a definite echo between ‘I Travel’ and ‘Planet Zero’," notes Charlie Burchill. "They both have sequencers and quite heavy guitars. They could be bookends, you know, from one period of time to another.”
As with all of our music releases, this seven-inch is strictly limited and it's only available to readers of Electronic Sound, so make sure you get your copy right away.
